MORAD KASHEF – OUR NEW GUEST CONDUCTOR & COMPOSER-IN-RESIDENCE

Morad Kashef is a distinguished composer, choir and orchestral conductor, baritone vocalist, Tar player, and music educator with over four decades of experience in performance and teaching. He holds a master’s degree in composition with distinction from the Tehran University of Art and is currently pursuing a PhD in Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

Mr. Kashef has taught extensively in both Iran and the United Kingdom, covering a wide range of musical disciplines including composition, harmony, counterpoint, orchestration, sight-singing, and voice. His pedagogical approach is informed by a deep grounding in traditional Iranian and Azerbaijani music, as well as in contemporary classical practice, enabling him to offer students a broad and adaptable perspective.

He was awarded First Place (Iran) and received a Jury Special Mention in Category B-D at the Maurice Ravel International Composition Competition in Italy (2016), recognising his creative contribution to contemporary music.

In addition to his academic work, Mr. Kashef remains an active composer and performer, contributing to a diverse range of musical settings across Iran and the UK. He is committed to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments, and views teaching as a collaborative, student-centred process rooted in mutual respect and a shared passion for music.
