Online Note-Reading & Music Theory Course

This beginner-friendly course is designed to help you read music with confidence. Over 4 weeks, you’ll learn the basics of note-reading, rhythm, and key music theory concepts — all explained clearly and step by step. No prior experience needed.

Over four weeks, we’ll cover the essential building blocks of music in a simple, structured way — perfect for beginners or anyone who wants to revisit the basics. Each session includes practical exercises to help you read music more fluently and understand what’s happening in a piece — whether you’re singing or playing.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

  • Read basic sheet music (in treble clef)

  • Understand note values and rhythm (crotchets, quavers, rests, etc.)

  • Recognise time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 6/8, etc.)

  • Identify key musical symbols (repeats, bar lines, dynamics)

  • Follow a musical line with greater accuracy

Duration: 1 hour - Wednesdays 7:30 - 8:30

Starting: Wednesday, August 6 and Wednesday, September 3
